Scientific Revolution Skills Assessment #14 (6/6/11)

Objectives: We will show our understanding of the Scientific Revolution by scoring proficient or advanced on Skills Assessment #14. We will complete any incomplete work or submit extra credit.


Announcements:
Friendly Reminder: Remember to show excellence by doing the following things:

A) While in class, always work hard and be nice.

B) Please read all tasks fully before asking a teammate or your teacher if you don't understand something.

Task 1: Silently review your knowledge of the following presentations: Roots of the Scientific RevolutionCopernicus and KeplerGalileo and the Copernican TheoryNewton and the Law of Gravity You will have 10 minutes to study.

Task 2: Track Mr. Herrera as he explains the directions for today's skills assessments. You will be required to annotate each question by doing either of two things:

  1. Briefly state why 3 answer choices are incorrect.
  2. Briefly state why your answer choice is the BEST answer.
Task 3: If the class finishes early, you may work on homework or early finisher's activities. All extra credit assignments for the Scientific Revolution are due today.


Early Finishers:
  1. Use your 8-square flow map (yesterday's) to create a comic about the evolution of scientific thought by using StripGenerator (you will need to create an account and play around with the tools here). Your comic should have 8 boxes or frames that explain the concepts in your flow map.
  2. Use your flow map to create a timeline about the evolution of scientific thought by using Capzles (you will need to create an account and play around with the tools here). Your Capzle should have 8 images with descriptions.
  3. Check out the class website for more early finisher's options.
