Understanding Humanism (4/13/11)

Objective: We will understand humanism by identifying the characteristics of classical art, medieval art, and renaissance art. We will compare medieval art to renaissance art.

Task 1: Submit your homework assignment by reading 29.5 Advances in Sculpture. (Only for those who did not submit yesterday).

Task 2: Finish the multi-flow map on page 264 (look at yesterday's post for the requirements) and get Mr. Herrera's signature.

Task 3: Review the presentation and create a comic at MakeBeliefsComix.com that has 4 square. Follow these directions: (Square 1) Explain classical learning, (Square 2) Explain humanism, (Square 3) Explain the three reasons that fueled the growth of the Renaissance, (Square 4) Describe the study of humanities. Each square should have an image and dialogue explaining each requirement. Take a look at my example (have integrity and do not copy). Get Mr. Herrera's approval before emailing your comic and moving to the next task.


Task 4: Read 28.2 What Was the Renaissance? Part I and Part II to identify the characteristics of Classical art, Medieval art, and Renaissance Art. Draw and complete a large tree map on page 265 of your notebook to show your understanding. Get Mr. Herrera's signature before moving forward.


Task 5: Use the information in 28.2 What Was the Renaissance? Part I and Part II to compare and contrast Medieval Art to Renaissance Art by drawing a large double bubble map on page 266 of your notebook. Get Mr. Herrera's signature.

Homework: Read 29.7 Advances in Science and Mathematics and complete the graphic organizer.
